Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT), established in 1994 in Adapazarı, Sakarya, is a key production base in Europe, manufacturing models like the Toyota Corolla and Toyota C-HR, with most output exported to over 30 countries; as a joint venture with Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA holding 90% and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. holding 10%, TMMT has seen investments of around €2.5 billion and employs over 5,000 people, significantly impacting the Turkish automotive industry and local community through employment, community development projects, environmental initiatives, economic contributions, and volunteering programs, thereby enhancing both economic and social well-being.

Problem:
TMMT needed to discontinue using BusinessObjects (BO) and sought an alternative solution to efficiently generate reports and manage routine process reporting. There are different systems for manufacturing, sales, distribution and factory management. To have a quick look and determine the areas to be focused they need an easy to implement solution which is also easy to connect to different systems and have powerful graphics and illustration capabilities. There are a number of very critical systems like CVQS, FLR, ILOCS, FTS, Henkaten, etc. which have to be integrated. And it takes considerable time to connect, integrate and get data out of these systems. The old system was time and effort consuming. All of the shareholders were expecting to have faster response times
TMMT was looking for a more efficient solution to streamline its reporting and routine data processes across systems such as CVQS, FLR, ILOCS, FTS and Henkaten. While they were forced not to use BO, the need for a faster and easier solution to increase integration and accelerate insights became clear. They needed a platform that could seamlessly connect to multiple systems, simplify data extraction, and provide powerful visualization capabilities to highlight key areas of focus. This gives stakeholders faster access to actionable insights, helping them make more informed decisions faster.
Solution:
TMMT uses Microsoft Azure solutions to optimize production efficiency, manage supply chains, ensure quality control, and integrate data.
The move to Power BI and Power Automate has provided TMMT with more powerful, flexible, and user-friendly tools for data analysis and workflow automation.
With the launch of the project, lots of new reports were designed. Especially for DirectMaterial Projects that Toyota employees were able to make many new reports and even add new measures which they had no change to do it before in Business Objects.
TMMT leverages Microsoft Azure solutions to boost efficiency, streamline resource management, ensure quality control, and integrate vital data. By adopting Power BI and Power Automate, TMMT gained more powerful, flexible, and user-friendly tools for data analysis and workflow automation. This transformation led to the creation of several new reports, especially for direct materials projects. Toyota employees now have the ability to easily recreate their previous reports and introduce new performance metrics-features previously unavailable. With Power BI’s advanced visualization tools, they can monitor processes and data more effectively and efficiently.

Visualization
Power Platform make it possible to report over factory layout. Integration with factory management systems, the defects and problems can be visualized over the line layouts. The supervisors can easily understand the problems within the factory just looking at the PowerBI report which is published over factory layout.
All-in-one Inspection Reports
Inspections made all over the factory can be monitored by one report. Whether it is assembly, painting or purchasing quality inspections, each control result is summarized in a PowerBI report.
Production Control
Total number of units manufactured is very important for Toyota. Each assembly line and painting shops must be fully monitored to get real number of units manufactured. With the help of PowerBI all manufacturing units can be reported against planned and actual outputs. Critical problems can be identified by PowerBI and notifications can be sent to responsible of that KPI automatically.
Self Service Reporting
With the use of Microsoft Power Platform, users -after getting trained- start to create their reports by themselves. Before Powerplatform, they were unable to access and develop reports by themselves. Former reporting tool Business Objects was complicated and only a specialist person was authorized to create Objects and DataModels. By Powerplatform, users can build their reports by themselves and even use multiple Data Sources. They do not need the help of IT people anymore or any specialized technical designer.
